I have another copy-cat post (of sorts) tonight. Most of you have probably seen this mani from Chloe's Nails:

I decided I wanted to attempt my version of it. You can find the link to the original post here. I wasn't in the mood for a dark polish so I decided to use my favorite Zoya Velvet Matte - Harlow. Harlow rocks my world, perfectly berry and gorgeous. She only needs one coat for opacity and I often put her on when I need a quick mani change. You can find my original review on Harlow here.

As you can see mine doesn't look like the original. This is why I said it was a "copy-cat post (of sorts)". My nails are so short that I don't really have "tips" right now. Not to mention the fact that my nails will never be as gorgeous as Erika's from Chloe's Nails.
But overall I am very happy with it. If I had used a flat matte polish instead of one with shimmer there would have been more of a contrast, I might try that the next time I attempt it. Or use a matte top coat instead. For the tips I simply taped them off and used Poshe top coat.

It's a pretty simple but eye-catching look. ANYONE can do this. I even did some of the tips on my right hand freehand and was able to pull it off (and I can't freehand ANYTHING).
Will you be attempting this? I would love to see it if you do!

Yummeh berry goodness! <3
ReplyDeletei love Harlow so much!
ReplyDeleteI really like this!! A lot!
ReplyDeleteLoverly!! <3
ReplyDeleteI like your version of this :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! Harlow is one of the few Zoyas that has eluded me--it is so pretty and I love your take on that mani ^_^
ReplyDeleteI have admired this black one many a time but never thought I would be able to make mine look as good as hers - so have not tried (no good excuse I know). Harlow is a beauty and not one of the Zoyas I own for some reason...maybe because I loaded up on reds and fuchsia ranges in my spree of major Zoya buys before I had to slow down big time on buying as I ran out of room and also had hundreds I never have tired even. I would like to try this in some color form for a pedi I think. Would look very cool!
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for the 'One Lovely Blog Award' http://nailgunxs.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/one-lovely-blog-award1.html
I love this look! Great job.
ReplyDeleteI like it! I think you did a great job and it's a fun mani :)
