Mom's Birthday Cupcakes!

Saturday was my mom's birthday (Happy Birthday again Mom!) and I had the brilliant idea (or maybe not so brilliant LOL) to attempt nail art and put cupcakes on her nails. I started out doing them on all 10 fingers and didn't like the way they looked. So I took off all but 4 of them and went with it. LOL I loosely followed the tutorial I found HERE. I ended up working on her nails until after 1 in the morning.

Polishes used in this mani

On the "solid fingers":
Julep Carrie and OPI Teenage Dream

On the cupcake fingers:
OPI Rumples Wiggin' for the background
Julep Carrie and OPI Teenage Dream for the frosting
Revlon French Roast for the cake
Barry M Indigo and Avon Aqua Fantasy for the sprinkles
Nubar Fire Sparkle for the cherry

Everything was topped with Seche Vite

This mani is not 100%, I did these Friday night and didn't get pics until today (Monday). For 3 full days of wear I think they look pretty darn good!

What do you think of my cupcakes? I am fairly pleased with them, I think I may be able to master these eventually with some more practice.

NYE Mani...48 Hours Late!!!! LOL

Happy (late) New Year everyone!!!I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I apologize for not posting my NYE mani sooner but I have been really busy! Better late than never, right?

Before I get to the mani I have an exciting announcement to make! Starting today (after this post) I will start a themed week to kick off the new year and it's a pretty awesome one if I do say so myself. To kick off 2012 I will be having a "Week of Holos!!" Yes, a whole week worth of holo goodness. If you saw my nail mail post last week you know I have a ton o awesome new holo polishes from Llarowe to try out and I can't wait!! So stay tuned for mega-drooling. ;-)

OK, on to this mani. I wanted something fun for NYE and I hadn't had a chance to use my Nubar Black Polka Dots or White Polka Dots yet. I thought about doing them alternately over black and white polish but wanted to try them together. And what color better to put them over than red? I think it turned out super cute!! It reminds me of my Grandma's kitchen, she had a black and white tile floor with red countertops, so retro. :)

Once again, I have to apologize for the red in these pics. My camera seems to be ok with every color except red. The first pic I am posting is from my cell phone so it is crappy quality but the color is the true color of the polish.

I used 2 coats of Avon Real Red topped with Nubar White Polka Dots and Nubar Black Polka Dots. I got pics of the red on its own but they turned out way too orange so I didn't even include them. The formula on the White Polka Dots was better than the black. The white spread pretty evenly but the black I had to "dab". Either way it was not a problem and I just want to say I LOVE THESE POLKA DOTS!!!! OK, here we go!

Crappy quality but the real color....

Though I'd show them alternating before I did the second coat. I can't wait to wear these over black and white polish. :)

Excuse the stray glitter, I was in a hurry. :)

What do you think? Appropriate for NYE or not glitzy enough?

You can purchase Avon polish at my store HERE or directly from avon.com.

Nubar can be purchased from bynubar.com or from the very sweet Katie at Harlow & Co.

Avon Splendid Blue

Hello lovely ladies! Remember last week when I did my mystery post? (If you missed it you can see it HERE.) I already posted Avon Sequined Turquoise and now I will show you the other polish in my mystery post, Avon Splendid Blue. This is a really pretty dark blue, I would call it navy blue. It's almost like it's lit from within, it has flecks that just make it sparkle.

I had no problems with application, I had full opacity in 2 coats. It was actually shinier than this until I added a top coat. I received a free top coat at Sally's the other day called Diamond Dry. I don't like it. It gives the polish a dull, streaky finish. Luckily it didn't show up as badly in the pics as it was in person. I will not be using it anymore.

I hope you enjoyed this! I got this color in an outlet book so I'm not sure if it will be in stock. You can purchase at avon.com.

Surprise Mystery Post Answer!!!

Sorry this is so late everyone! It has been a crazy day! The answer to the mystery polish brand is....drumroll....Avon! Yes, both polishes in my mystery post were Avon. The teal one (which to me looks almost like a dead-on dupe of Zoya Charla and OPI Catch Me In Your Net- I will have to compare them soon) is a new color from Avon called Sequined Turquoise and the dark blue is Splendid Blue. This post will be dedicated to Sequined Turquoise. I will have a post for Splendid Blue soon but I have a busy few days ahead of me so I'm not exactly sure when.

Since I'm sure everyone knows what Charla and Catch Me In Your Net look like I won't babble too much here. Sequined Turquoise appears to possibly lean a little more blue than the others.

On to the pics! This is 3 coats although it looked pretty much the same with two, no top coat. Please excuse the couple of messy spots.

Avon polishes have come a long way in recent years! They retail for $2.99 but are often on sale. They can be purchased from avon.com. I hope you enjoyed my mystery post!

FRANKENSTEIN!

Happy Halloween for the last time this year! I'm getting ready to head out trick-or-treating with my nephews! I love my Frankenstein nails and simple and cute they are.

My base is Avon Limeade which I then mattified with Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love. I used Sinful Colors Nail Art stripers for the black lines.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween posts today! Make sure to check back tomorrow! I will be starting a series of posts featuring my new Ozotic Mish-Mash polishes that are holographic and multi-chrome!

Happy Halloween and be safe tonight!

Avon Limeade

Hello again everyone! This is a polish I picked up on a whim out of the Avon Outlet book for $1.99. SWEET! I really like Avon polishes, they have really improved their formula and colors over the last few years. This is the base color for my last Halloween nail art post...can you guess what art I did over this?

This is a really pretty light lime green foil...it was a little on the sheer side. What you see here is 3 coats topped with Orly Sec 'N Dry. (This polish is a Speed Dry so I probably didn't need the speed dry top coat but I was in a hurry. LOL)

Stay tuned! I will have my art post up in a few minutes! (hopefully) LOL
