Daphine Polish Goddess of the Two Lands Collection - Swatches and Review ♥

Press Sample

Happy Saturday! I am kicking off the weekend with a brand new collection from a relatively new indie brand, Daphine Polish. She launched her fall collection, The Goddess of the Two Lands Collection, yesterday (Friday, August 23rd) and I will be showing you all 6 polishes today!

This is a beautiful collection and perfect for autumn! (I seem to be saying that a lot lately, I am so ready for summer to be over!) Anyway, this collection is inspired by goddesses (which you probably already figured out by the collection name) and is full of very rich and shimmery colors. They all had very nice formulas. I had no issues applying these and I only needed 2 coats for full opacity on all 6. These are not "top coat hungry," but I do suggest that you use a top coat for them as the glitter in them makes them slightly bumpy. I used one coat of Poshe in all of the photos unless otherwise noted in the caption.

Make sure to read until the end to find out about a sale going on from Daphine Polish right now!

Post continued after the jump!

Nut -  I am going to start this post with my personal favorite from this collection. This is such a gorgeous deep blue and the holographic sparkle makes it pop! This one reminds me of a night sky sparkling with stars. As you will see in my photos below it even has a grey and purple hue depending on the lighting. (This is the only one I did not get full sun photos of due to clouds rolling in just a few minutes too early.)

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"A deep navy blue with purple glitter and a hint of holographic sparkle, Nut, goddess of the sky, is one of the first deities in Egyptian mythology. Her name is found in the creation myth of Heliopolis, among the oldest cities of Ancient Egypt. She is mainly depicted as a star-covered nude woman arching over the earth, or as a cow whose body covered the sky. One of her sacred symbols is a ladder, used by the god Osiris to climb into her heavens and become the god of the dead; she is seen as a protector of and friend to the deceased."

Isis -  a beautiful purple that will work on most any skin tone. It's one of those that sort of shifts from warm tones to cool toned. And the pink glitters really stand out and look amazing.

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"A royal purple with pink glitter and a hint of holographic sparkle, Isis is one of the most well-known of Ancient Egyptian goddesses. The daughter of the sky goddess Nut and the earth god Geb, she is seen as the personification of the throne and as a representation of the Pharaoh’s power. She is portrayed as a woman wearing a headdress of a throne. Among many other roles, she is also the patroness of nature and magic. She is the sister-wife of the god Osiris, and when he was betrayed and murdered by his brother Set, Isis used her magical powers to resurrect him."

Hathor - a gorgeous shade of green that looks emerald in some lighting but more teal in others. Please excuse the streak on my ring finger, I bumped it while the polish was still wet but didn't notice until I was cropping the photos.

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"An emerald green with gold holographic glitter and a hint of holographic sparkle, Hathor is the goddess of feminine love and motherhood. She wears a headdress of horns in which sits the solar disk and uraeus (upright cobra) of royalty. She was one of the most popular goddesses in Ancient Egypt and was deeply loved by nobility and commoner alike. She was revered by women who sought to emulate her as the ideal wife, mother, and lover. The Ancient Greeks identified Hathor as their goddess Aphrodite."

Sekhmet - Another favorite of mine, this one is a very vampy shade. It's a deep burgundy red with brown undertones. I can see myself wearing this one a lot this fall. The glitter is a bit more sparse in this one which I think suits it well since it is a deep shade.

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"A burgundy red with pops of pink and red sparkle, Sekhmet is the warrior goddess, in Upper Egypt also the goddess of healing, and is depicted with a lioness head. She also wears a headdress of the solar disk and uraeus (upright cobra) which associated her with royalty. She is seen as the protector of the Pharoahs and led them in warfare.  Priestesses would perform daily rituals in order to placate her wrath, and after battles festivals were held in her honor so the destruction would end. In Lower Egypt her parallel was the cat goddess Bast."

Bast - This polish looked like several different colors depending on the light! It is a gunmetal grey but can also look blue or even green, as you will see below. The multi-colored glitter in this one make it really fun!

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"A gunmetal grey with rainbow micro glitter and a hint of holographic sparkle, Bast is the cat goddess and the goddess of warfare in Lower Egypt, making her the parallel of Upper Egypt’s goddess Sekhmet. After the unification of the two lands, Bast’s role shifted to a major protection deity. In later texts her name was written as Bastet to denote this change. Originally depicted as a lioness and defender of Ra, after unification she was seen depicted as a woman with the head of a cat carrying a sacred rattle. Bast translates literally to “(female) of the ointment jar” and so she became associated with the lavish jars that stored perfumes and protective ointments."

Anuket - This color just screams fall to me! A gorgeous deep brown with orange glitter and the same beautiful holographic sparkle as the others. I can see this being a perfect addition to  a Thanksgiving ensemble.

The description and inspiration per the maker:

"A rich brown with orange glitter and a hint of holographic sparkle, Anuket is the personification and goddess of the Nile River. She is portrayed as a women with a headdress of feathers and her sacred animal is a gazelle. At the beginning of the annual flooding of the Nile, Ancient Egyptians celebrated the Festival of Anuket. During this festival people threw coins, gold, jewelry, and other precious gifts in to the river as thanks for the waters that brought life to the Nile basin."
