Guest Post: Sheila from Pointless Cafe

Hello everyone! I am visiting my family in Oklahoma this week so some lovely bloggers have stepped in with fabulous guest posts for you while I'm away!  Stay tuned all week and show them some love! I also have a brand new collection post scheduled for Thursday, you won't want to miss it!

To kick off the week the amazing Sheila from Pointless Cafe is here to share some nail art! Her blog features a little bit of everything - fabulous swatches, gorgeous nail art and sometimes a rambling or two. She likes to keep it fun and fresh and has a great writing style. I will link her blog and social media accounts at the bottom in case you don't already follow her - but I'm sure most of you already do. ;)

----------------------------------

Hi everyone! *waves frantically* I'm very honored to be guest posting for Ashley today on her lovely blog. I have some random nail art for you that I did one day a week or so ago because it was chilly and gloomy outside - a floral seemed just the right juxtaposition of happy and gloomy.

With Girly Bits What a Rush top coat...

With Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs...

For this one, I started with a gradient using 2 green Zoyas. Unfortunately, I've put them up and I forgot to write down which ones they were. The rest was done with cheap acrylic paints just in a random way.

So how about you? Do you restrict your nail art to seasonal things? Or do you just do whatever makes you happy on any given day?

I hope Ashley is having a great break...stay tuned for more guest posts from some great bloggers!

...polish and puppy kisses,

Sheila

Thank you so much, Sheila! I love this fun look! Check her out at the links below if you don't already follow her!

A Blogging Celebration Post!

Nothing to Disclose

Hello lovely readers! Today's post is a different type of post but I am excited to share it with you! Pointless Café is celebrating its 3 Year Blog Anniversary today (March 10th) and Shawn from Above the Curve contacted me asking if we could get the nail polish community together to celebrate the woman behind the blog and show her how much she is loved and appreciated! Since I love Sheila and her blog to pieces, I thought it was a great idea!

I think 3 years of Pointless Café is definitely something worth celebrating. 3 years of amazing swatches, honest reviews, funny stories, adorable pups and the occasional rant. Sheila is one of the hardest working bloggers I know. She swatches so many polishes daily and they are always color-accurate and beautiful. She can get polishes swatched so fast it makes my head spin! And those macros!! Sheila is also a very sweet, giving person who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.

So lets let her know how much we love her today! Head on over to her Facebook page and share a favorite memory or post of hers with her! Or even a nail art mani inspired by one she created! There will also be some surprises in store for today so make sure you keep your eyes open for a day full of fun!

Thanks for reading and happy polishing (and sharing)! ♥

Hi everyone!!! I'm so excited to be doing a guest post for Ashley and you guys! I have a really pretty one for you and it's available now and ON SALE! Love it when that happens!

Above the Curve
Thrilling

Thrilling is a bluer version of Husbands Just Don't Understand and it's a gorgeous blue-leaning teal with loads of shimmer and a bit of scattered holo. Formula and application were flawless! It can be a one-coater even, but I've used two coats and no top coat for the photos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, this one really got me. It's just really pretty and sparkly and it's saturated enough that it even looks good on my bleached flour skin! What do you think?

It's ON SALE right now at Above the Curve's site for $7.00 for a full-sized bottle!

Above the Curve polishes are available on their Big Cartel shop here and their Etsy shop here. You can also follow them on Facebook here to stay up-to-date on availability, new collections, promos, etc. The BEST part? $1 of every bottle sold goes to Shriner's Hospital for Children! Other polishes in full-sized bottles retail for $9.00.

When you have time, come on over and visit me at Pointless Cafe!

Thanks for having me Ash!

Argyle Nails ♥

Hello everyone! I have a quick nail art attempt that I did last week. I loved this so much that I wore it for 2 days (that's a long time for me - LOL). It wasn't perfect, and it wasn't as good as my inspiration, but I adored it anyway!

First up, my inspiration mani. Sheila at Pointless Cafe did a Copy-Caturday post for argyle nails, seen below.

Argyle Nails done by Pointless Cafe

I didn't have the pink Milani and I decided I wanted to use all creme polishes instead of the metallic silver so I used all Sinful Colors polishes (purchased before my Cruelty-Free update). Sinful Colors Black on Black, Smokin' and Cotton Candy.

My lines could be cleaner but I will try it again and hopefully improve!

Thanks for reading and happy polishing! ♥

piCture pOlish: FOCUS by Pointless Cafe ♥

Good afternoon everyone! I am very excited about the polish I have to show you today! I love it so much that I have worn it 3 times already!

My amazing friend Sheila from Pointless Cafe was one of the bloggers chosen by piCture pOlish (participants were chosen based on their piCture pOlish Blogfest posts) to create her very own polish shade and I think she created quite a stunner! It was originally a limited edition shade but it sold so well that it was announced last night that piCture pOlish would be adding it to their permanent line! This is great news for anyone that hasn't been able to snag a bottle yet (or may want a backup or two.... like me).

Focus is a gorgeous deep red/violet shade the is packed full of iridescent micro-flakes that absolutely glow from within! *SWOON* The formula was great - I had absolutely no issues at all. I would call this one a crelly - it's more opaque than a jelly but still sheer enough that the micro-flakes shine through. Since I have worn this multiple times already, I can tell you that on shorter nails it is opaque in two coats and on longer nails you will generally need a third.  One coat of top coat and you're good to go.

I have a lot of photos of this one (under various lighting situations) and none of them do this polish justice. It is definitely one of those polishes that you have to see in person to truly appreciate.

First up are some shots under artificial lighting...

This shade is available directly from piCture pOlish and also through The Network.

31 Day Challenge Day 27 - Inspired By Art

We are nearing the end of the challenge and I must say that I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would. While I still don't think I am "good" at nail art, I definitely think I am improving.

This day of the challenge is definitely my favorite so far. It is my favorite because it's been kind of special for me. If you have been following me for any length of time at all you have probably seen me mention my good friend Sheila from Pointless Cafe. In fact, you more than likely follow her too. (And if you don't, you really should.) But something most people don't know about Sheila is that in addition to her amazing nails, swatches, writing and numerous other talents, she also happens to be a FABULOUS painter. So, when "Inspired by Art" came along I asked Sheila if I could use one of her paintings as inspiration and was so thrilled when she said yes.

It was a hard to decide which of her paintings I wanted to use as my inspiration because I love them all. I tried to choose one that I felt, with my limited skills, I could replicate somewhat well. My mani did not turn out as well as her painting but I am fairly happy with it. It actually looks better in person, macro is not my friend. LOL

You can check out the rest of Sheila's amazing artwork here.

What do you think of my attempt to recreate this gorgeous piece of art? I wish it had turned out better but with my skill level, I am pretty happy with it.

I want to thank Sheila again for letting me use one of her amazing paintings! ♥

Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade Gradient!

Dandy Nails is restocking tomorrow (August 1st) and to celebrate I have TWO Dandy Nails posts. One tonight and one in the morning! The one for tomorrow is my favorite but I love them both.

Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade over Catrice Forget-Me-Not

For this mani I used Like Disco Lemonade over Catrice Forget-Me-Not (I will have a post on that soon) which is a warm-toned deep purple foil. I applied it as a gradient on all fingers except for my ring finger, where I did a full nail accent.

She will be releasing four BRAND NEW shades tomorrow and you can see them in two different posts from two of my favorite bloggers - Pointless Cafe and I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous. They are amazing, you don't want to miss them!

Dior Jamaican Pepper - Swatch and Review (and an amazingly sweet nail mail surprise!)

Happy Saturday everyone! I had quite the surprise this morning, a nail mail package from my dear friend Sheila at Pointless Cafe. I am shocked and I can't thank her enough. LOL

Amazing nail mail

Of course after receiving this I just had to get one of my new pretties on my nails ASAP. And what better to start with than the AMAZING Dior Jamaican Pepper!? I had been wanting this one for awhile but hadn't been able to get it, it was so sweet of her to think of me.

The formula on Jamaican Pepper was nothing short of perfection. And it has all of the normal Dior goodness - the amazing brush...the secret shimmer...*sigh* I did top it with the Dior Top Coat, which was also amazing. I did wait quite awhile before applying it because I didn't want to turn the top coat pink. Been there, done that.

It was partly cloudy today (yay!) so I had an interesting time taking pictures. I'm sure my neighbors think I am nuts by now, but that's nothing new. LOL So some of these are sun pics and some are "shade" pics.
